Celebrities worldwide unite for a 24-hour live stream COVID-19 global recovery Global Citizen Live benefit concert that will raise funds to help recovering communities around the world. The event’s goal is to secure a series of pledges from companies and governments to fund more vaccines, famine relief, and education programs.
The campaign has already gained the attention of world leaders, including the speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian prime minister Mario Draghi, and German chancellor Angela Merkel. Global Citizen chief executive Hugh Evans said, “We must rectify the damage done and hold world leaders and businesses accountable for ensuring that the entire world recovers from this pandemic together.”
The developing setlist features artists including The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Ricky Martin, BTS, Demi Lovato, Coldplay, HER, Duran Duran, Shawn Mendes, Usher, Andrea Bocelli, Keith Urban, Metallica, Doja Cat, Lorde, and more. Performances will occur worldwide, featuring Central Park in New York, the Champ de Mars in Paris, Seoul, London, Rio de Janeiro, Los Angeles, Sydney, and Lagos according to Global Citizen Live.
The concert will be aired in partnership with the BBC, YouTube, Hulu, along with other streaming platforms and broadcasters. You can catch the international benefit concert on September 25.
